Since 1999 the number of museums increased mainly on account of rural municipality museums.
Since 2011 without the data of the Estonian Literary Museum, which is the reason for the noticeable decrease in the number of museum objects.
The data on the whole country may differ from the sum of the counties due to rounding.
Starting 2012, the indicators connected with the population number are calculated based on the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census. For earlier years, the population number based on the 2000 census is used.
The data for 2014-2016 have been revised on 18.05.2018.
As of January 2018, the data are by the administrative division after the Administrative Reform. When comparing 2018 data to earlier data, the change in the administrative division must be taken into account.
